The Central Government has appointed Prashant Jeevan Patil, a 2011-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Telangana cadre, as Deputy Director General (Director level) in the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), Mumbai, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The appointment has been made under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years or until further orders, marking a significant addition to the country's maritime administration.
