Amazon India on Thursday launched its largest specialised fulfilment center in the country with a storage capacity of more than 1.2 million cubic feet. Launched ahead of the festive season, the new hub will offer storage and efficient management of customer orders from the large appliances and furniture category.
This expansion in Karnataka is a part of the Amazon’s plans announced in July 2020 to add 10 new fulfilment centers and expand 7 existing sites across India. With this, Amazon India now offers storage capacity of more than 4 million cubic feet across 4 fulfilment centers to its close to 35,000 sellers in Karnataka.
The new center was virtually inaugurated by B S Yediyurappa, Chief Minister of Karnataka along with Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President, Amazon India and Akhil Saxena, VP, Customer Fulfilment Operations- APAC, MENA & LATAM, Amazon India, and other members of Amazon India leadership.
B S Yediyurappa said, “E-commerce companies like Amazon have complemented government’s efforts in not only meeting the needs of customers by safely delivering essentials but also MSMEs which moved online to grow and expand their businesses during the pandemic.”
“The fresh investment by Amazon in India will create more job opportunities for local youth and also enable these MSMEs to sell their ‘Made-in-Karnataka’ products all over India and the world,” the Chief Minister added.

Amazon has been supporting local entrepreneurs and businesses in Karnataka, with programs that enable part-time and full-time delivery opportunities. The company has thousands of Flex partners, hundreds of ‘I Have Space’ stores as well as close to 140 Amazon-owned and Delivery Service Partners stations, in Karnataka.
This festive season, Amazon is looking to fulfil over 20,000 orders in a day from the specialised center. The company is also expanding three sort centres in the state with more than three lakh square feet of sortation area.
