In a latest development to boost Indian road transport and highways infrastructure, Union minister Nitin Gadkari, is reportedly set to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 11 highway projects worth Rs 4,300 crore in Uttar Pradesh on September 1, 2020, the ministry said on Monday in a statement.
Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister is also said to preside over the virtual function, which will be attended by V K Singh, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister of UP and several other ministers, MPs and MLA’s from the centre and the state.
These new road and highway projects will definitely boost the road infrastructure and connectivity. “These projects for inauguration and foundation laying carry a road length of 363 kilometres, involving construction value of Rs 4,281 crore. Paving the way for development of Uttar Pradesh, these roads will enhance better connectivity, convenience and economic growth in and around the state,” the statement said.
The latest development will also improve the movement of goods and people to and from the neighboring states. According to the statement issued by the ministry, better roads lead to savings in fuel and time, as also lower emission of pollutants and these projects will help decongest roads and the towns en-route, contributing to improved road experience.
