Singapore Airlines has officially joined the list of airlines transporting the much awaited COVID-19 vaccine. The airline became one of the first long-haul carriers of COVID vaccines after it transported its first shipment of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines from Brussels Airport in Belgium to Singapore Changi Airport on December 22.

The vaccines flew on a Singapore Airlines Cargo 747-400 freighter with the flight number SQ7979 and required end-to-end cold-chain logistics.

With two COVID-19 vaccines now receiving approvals in the US and other countries, airlines have started flying the precious cargo.
