The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has awarded CSC Cold Chain Solutions with IATA Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) Pharma Certification for its Pharma Excellence Centre in Mumbai. It has become the first air cargo handler in India to receive this certification.
The centre has also been certified as global distribution practice (GDP) compliant by TUV SUD, demonstrating the organisation’s commitment to quality in every aspect of their service, and to be a vital partner of the healthcare supply chain.
“These are the timely accreditation received by Mumbai CSC Cold Chain Solution for the movement of life science products and especially the need of the hour for the COVID-19 vaccine. Mumbai CSC Pharma Excellence Centre is already handling a considerable quantity of polio vaccines every month, which are being exported from India to various parts of the world,” CSC Group Chairman Tushar Jani said.
“The vast knowledge and experience along with modern infrastructure will come very useful for supply chain of COVID-19 vaccine to the world by India. This achievement would not have come without collaborative support and partnership with Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL),” Jani added.
The CSC Pharma Excellence Centre features temperature-controlled storage areas for pharmaceuticals with different temperature zones, mainly 15 to 250C and 2 to 80C which are electronically monitored. To understand and pre-empt temperature fluctuations, alarm systems have also been installed.
To support the world class infrastructure, they have now started using cool dollies for continuous cold chain solution for a seamless transport on the tarmac till the products are loaded on to the aircraft.
Mumbai CSC Cold Chain Solutions recently received the prestigious CII SCALE Awards 2020, consecutively in the fourth year, for best practices and best Infrastructure within the cold supply chain.
